Nature of the content
What I publish here is technical, educational and reflective material: readings of documents, notes on legislation and papers, descriptions of architectures, working notes. It is meant to inform and to prompt thought, and should be taken as such.
It is not professional advice. In particular it is not legal advice, data protection advice, security advice on any specific system, nor clinical or diagnostic guidance. No article establishes a professional relationship between me and the reader.
Articles discussing legislation, standards or devices describe my reading of those texts on a given date. Legislation changes, regulators' interpretations change, products change. Before taking a decision with consequences, check the current source and, where it matters, get professional assistance.
Limitation of liability
The content is provided as is, with no warranty of completeness, accuracy or currency. To the extent permitted by law I accept no liability for direct or indirect damage arising from the use or non-use of what is published here, nor for decisions taken on the basis of it.
I take care in checking what I write and in citing sources, and mistakes remain possible. If you find one, please let me know. Thank you.
Use of artificial intelligence
In writing this site I use artificial intelligence tools for three things:
- Finding sources. Locating primary documents โ legislation, papers, advisories, repositories, statements from the bodies concerned โ reaching them and reporting what they say.
- Checking. Re-testing my claims against those sources, flagging figures that do not add up, imprecise quotations, wrong dates and unsupported claims.
- Review and drafting. Re-reading the texts against this site's style rules, proposing rewordings, drafting passages, translating between Italian and English.
Mine is the choice of subject and the argument of every article, mine the judgement on what is verified and what is not, mine the responsibility for what you read. No article goes out without my having read it in full. Where a figure or a quotation does not come from a reachable primary source I do not write it, and where a source is contested or incomplete I say so in the text rather than picking a convenient version. Technical articles close with a list of raw links, so a reader can retrace the path.
The English versions are assisted, reviewed translations, not independent texts.
Personal opinions
What I publish expresses my own positions and not those of the organisations I work with, the companies in which I am a shareholder or director, or any client. Where an article touches a project I take part in, I say so in the text.
External links
Articles cite external sources and link to them directly. I have no control over those sites and accept no responsibility for their content, their data practices or their availability over time. A link is not an endorsement.
Intellectual property
The texts are mine unless stated otherwise. Quotations from third-party documents are reproduced for comment and criticism, with the source indicated. Cover images come largely from archives under free licences or in the public domain, with author and licence given at the foot of each article. If you believe something has been used improperly, write to me and I will act on it.
Changes
This page may change. The version in force is the one published here, and the history of changes is in the site's repository.
